DOBRUDZHANKA Labor and Production Cooperative - Silistra has been founded in May 1954. The main activity of the Cooperative is the production of women's clothing made from materials supplied by the customers, for German, Italian and French companies, as well as the production of consumer and industrial packaging from corrugated cardboard. It has four production lines, a cutting section, two warehouses and a canteen. The production range includes dresses, skirts, blouses, jackets, overcoats, coats and down jackets, as annually between 95,000-100,000 garments and 55,000 packages are produced and exported.
DOBRUDZHANKA TPKI is housed in two separate production buildings. The main administrative and production building has been built in 1974 and is located at 37 "Dr.Anastas Yankov" Str., and the workshop for the production of corrugated cardboard packaging is located at 78 "Petar Mutafchiev" Str. Upon its establishment the Cooperative began with the production of nets, woven baskets and clothing and managed to establish itself as a regulated manufacturer of children's ready-made clothes.
After 1989 the Cooperative has reoriented its activities, reducing children's production and starting to concentrate on the production of women's clothing made from materials supplied by the customers . Dobrudzhanka TPKI has come a long way in this type of cooperation and thanks to its flexible policy it has managed to grow and work in a higher price category and for high-end companies, world leaders in the market.
Since its establishment the Cooperative has not changed its legal and social status. According to current data the Cooperative is the only specialized enterprise for people with disabilities on the territory of Silistra district, which has made a direct public commitment to social integration and equality. About 32% of the people employed in the Cooperative have varying degrees of lost work capacity. The social factor is of paramount importance and the Cooperative constantly invests in the qualification of management and executive staff.
As a specialized enterprise the main focus of the executive management of the Cooperative falls on providing conditions for a profitable and highly effective working environment, as well as professional realization of the persons employed in the enterprise, opening new jobs and creating a favorable working climate. The Cooperative annually engages its employees in social activities within the framework of a previously developed social plan.
The other main duty of the company's management is to monitor technological trends in the textile industry and to invest in modern equipment and facilities. The actual production is at a high technical and technological level which is also facilitated by the constant direct and indirect investments made by the Cooperative, as well as its participation in projects at the AHU (Agency for People with Disabilities). They are expressed in the purchase of new machines and equipment for the purpose of modernization - the company has a rich, multifunctional and diverse machine park which is constantly updated by established manufacturers of renowned brands for sewing and ironing equipment - JUKI, KURIS; VEIT, DURKOPP.
In order to maintain its competitiveness, Dobrudzhanka TPKI applies strict control and quality management at each stage of the production process, the management and storage of the given resources and the process of evaluating the final product. The company is subject to international social audits, as a result of which quality control, control over the social, environmental and ethical policy of the company remain of utmost importance.
